Nick Synes
Ecological Modeller | Data Scientist | Geospatial Engineer
PhD ecological modeller and senior data scientist working at the intersection of biodiversity, environmental science, geospatial AI, and large-scale data infrastructure.
I publish research on continental-scale species distribution modelling, global biodiversity platforms, and applied machine learning for environmental monitoring. I have also led the design and delivery of deep learning systems for environmental verification at continental scale, including audit-grade MRV for the world's leading carbon crediting standard.
Alongside permanent roles, I maintain ongoing consultancy work supporting scientific software development, research methodology, and tool building for research and applied teams. This site documents my published work, independent projects, and side interests.
